How many modes are there?
There are 3 modes to choose from.
Does it assemble and use easily?Only use a few minutes to assemble it. It's not difficult for a teenager to do it according to the manual or the assembly video. It's also very easy to use.
Is the coil waterproof?Yes, it can be used on the beach. But be careful of the control box, the box is not waterproof!
Would this be suitable for a 5-year old child, or would it be too bulky/heavy? This metal detector is only 2.1lbs. it's lightweight for adults and teenagers. But we'd recommend the GC-1011 for a 5-year-old. GC-1011 is more light and easier for kids.
whats the maximum depth it can detect?It would depend on many factors. First how big the buried object is. For example, a quarter may get 6" while a garbage can lid might come in at 18".The second is how much discrimination you use. On all metal, you will get more depth but pick up more trash items. Under ideal circumstances, you would never even pick up that trash can lid if you had iron nulled out.Other factors are too many to name but soil condition, moisture of grass, and sensitivity settings are all going to count towards depth.

Treasure Hunting

I purchased this metal detector for my teenage son! He has really gotten into hunting for treasures and this metal detector has been super fun for him! It also comes with a carrying bag…The metal detector fits in the carry bag best when the middle bar is detached. Everything including the headphones and shovel will fit the carry bag without issue....Very cool!!!
This metal detector is super lightweight and that has allowed my son to search for hours without his arms getting tired, but so far he Has only done searching in some nearby fields and a couple people’s backyards. He is excited to be able to search more areas including the beach when we go to California! We tested the metal detector on some Gold and silver coins. As well as seeing how it reacts to steel and iron. The detector is awesome & working great!! It’s seriously only takes a few minutes to figure out how to use it properly. If you have any problems figuring it out, If you have any problems figuring it out, I suggest reading the instructions if you need help in understanding if this metal detector is detecting the metal you want. All the tests we have done with this metal detector worked great and It was a lot of fun searching our back yard and around the house for gold. In the near future, I will take my metal detector out into the real world (a park or something & hopefully the beach) and hopefully/eventually find something valuable in the grass, dirt or sand! Searching for valuables is a fun hobby and this is a great metal detector for anyone who is new to treasure hunting. Overall it has worked great and been super fun for my son! Definitely recommended!

It reads about a couple of inches past the detector. It’s very lightweight, so no worries of needing to put it down. It’s pretty sensitive. It picks up on something really quickly! We went out to a field and recovered a ring and lots of change. You need to have patience. We walked around for a long time to find the things we did. I’ll find a treasure one day, I just know it! Lol

I was surprise how easy this detector was to assemble. I was able to do so without using the instructions. I like that it easily breaks down for travel. I had construction done at my house in March and thought I picked up all the nails and screws over the summer. I was amazed how many more I was able to find with this device. Looking forward to using on the beach next summer.

Always see people loosing stuff when anchored in the shallow lake areas needed to add a full size metal detector to my boat bag without being super expensive. I've only been able to do a couple tests with this one so far and it found what it was supposed to and discounted the iron I put out. (screws and bolts) It did find all of my items "lost" in the fall leaves. Beeps as you sweep over then you hit the PP pinpoint button and it gives off a sound you can "follow" changing pitch until the item is directly in the middle of the circle. Was very easy to assemble in a few minutes and off to scan the yard. This will be a handy device.

My son has asked me for one for 2 years so I finally broke down and got him one.
He is 17 and put it together quickly and was out the door trying it out. He had fun but the ground is already cold and hard to dig. He said it was light weight and easy to use.
He is going with a friend to the beach this weekend to see if they have any luck. I am happy for anything that gets him out and away from video games.

My 11 year old grandson has begged for a metal detector for the last 2 years so he’s had so much fun with this hunting for treasures. He spends hours at a time in the yard, which I love any time that he’s not watching videos or playing games. So far we’ve only dug up some old nails & screws but hope to have more luck when we go on vacation in Arkansas next month.
There is some assembly required, but don’t panic.. I had it together in around 5 minutes. So far the batteries it came with are still holding up & showing full strength with a lot of use. I would definitely recommend this one as a beginner or for someone young. I personally like how light it is, I’m able to use it for extended times without flaring up arthritis. I’m very happy with my purchase & I’d buy it again if I ever wanted another or to upgrade to another.

Hubby has always wanted a metal detector so I got him one for our anniversary. It was super easy to put together, less than 5 minutes. The instructions are easy to read, but he didn’t use them. The backlight feature is nice for older eyes. I looked at a few different detectors and for the price, this one has all the features he needs to get started. I hid some coins in the yard to see if he could find them and he did. Once he got a signal I showed him how to use the pinpoint feature which worked really well. We’re planning a trip to the beach next month so we’ll get to see how well it works in water.

Easy to assembly and easy to use, comes with bayteries. New to using metal detectors, and haven't gotten out much to use yet. Ability to control the sensitivity, and choose what metals are detected. Has a setting for pinpointing the search area. Seems like a good unit for beginners.
